Pro Tips for First-Timers

🌊 Don't fight the ocean. You'll learn to read it and flow with it — that's what surfing is all about.

😎 Relax your body. Tense muscles make everything harder. Take a breath and let the water do some of the work.

🤙 Everyone wipes out. It's totally normal — getting back up is the whole game.

📸 Want photos or video of your session? Just ask! Izzy is happy to capture some shots so you can remember your first rides.

How Booking Works

Fill Out the Booking Form

Head to the Book a Lesson page and complete the form with your name, contact info, number of people, preferred date, and desired lesson duration.

Automatic Confirmation Email

Immediately after submitting, you'll receive a confirmation email to the address you provided. This confirms your request is in — no payment yet.

Izzy Confirms Location & Conditions

Izzy will follow up personally to confirm the exact meeting spot on the beach — location is determined based on surf conditions and swell forecast for that day.

Show Up & Surf!

Arrive 10 minutes early, come stoked, and get ready to learn. Payment is collected on the day of your lesson.

Payment is collected on the day of your lesson — after you've ridden a wave and had a great time. Izzy accepts:

Weather & Wave Policy — Full Peace of Mind

When Will a Lesson Be Rescheduled or Refunded?

If the ocean conditions on your scheduled day are not suitable for a lesson — whether that's no waves (flat, dead swell) or waves that are too big or dangerous — Izzy will reach out to you in advance to reschedule or issue a full refund. Your safety and experience always come first.

What Counts as "Not Suitable"?

Waves under 1 foot (completely flat surf)
Waves over 6–8 feet for beginner/intermediate sessions
Lightning, severe storms, or dangerous rip currents
Red-flag beach closures by lifeguards

Student Cancellations

If you need to cancel, please reach out as early as possible. We'll do our best to reschedule at no extra charge, especially for weather-related cancellations on your end.

How You'll Be Notified

Izzy monitors the surf forecast daily. If conditions change, you'll get a direct call or text at least a few hours before your lesson — often the night before — with your rescheduling or refund options.

Do I need to know how to swim? +

Yes — you should be a comfortable swimmer before taking a surf lesson. You don't need to be an Olympic swimmer, but you should be able to swim in moving water and feel confident in the ocean.

What age groups do you teach? +

Izzy works with students from age 10 and up. Younger kids (under 16) should be accompanied by a parent or guardian. There's no upper age limit — surfing is for everyone!

Where exactly is the meeting location? +

Lessons take place on the beaches of Ventnor City, NJ. The exact meeting spot is determined by surf conditions on the day — Izzy will confirm the specific location when reaching out to you before your lesson.

Can I bring my own surfboard? +

Absolutely! If you have your own board, feel free to bring it. Izzy will assess whether it's appropriate for the lesson and conditions. Beginner-appropriate boards will be provided if needed.

Do you offer a discount for repeat bookings? +

Keep an eye out for special offers — Izzy occasionally shares discount QR codes with flyers and local partners. You can also ask about package deals when reaching out directly.
